WARSAW (Thomson Financial) - Poland's central bank governor Slawomir Skrzypek has nominated Piotr Adam Wiesiolek, an executive at state-controlled bank BOS, as his new deputy, sources close to the matter told Thomson Financial News today.
The decision comes after the bank's two deputy governors stepped down over the last month, with the second resignation yesterday sparking a row over staff changes and management at the bank.
The candidate for the deputy needs approval from the president.
'Skrzypek's candidate is Mr. Wiesiolek,' the source told Thomson Financial News.
Wiesiolek was unavailable for comment.
Wiesiolek, 43, is BOS's deputy chief executive and previously worked for the central bank between 1992 and 1996, heading its investment policy team.
He will be responsible for the management of Poland's almost 45 bln eur in foreign reserves. pawel.sobczak@thomson.com *48 22 447 2430 pjg/jfr COPYRIGHT Copyright Thomson Financial News Limited 2007.
