KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - A year after he arrived, the chief executive of privately owned Goody's Family Clothing Inc. has resigned following layoffs at the retailer's headquarters.
Chuck Turlinski, who was CEO of The Limited before coming to Goody's, stepped down Feb. 4. Company spokeswoman Kristin Alm said Turlinski leaves with no announcement or formal statement.
Prentice Capital Management, which bought the 378-store chain in 2005, appointed executive Mario Ciampi as interim CEO and began a search for a permanent replacement.
In January, Goody's announced that 5 percent of its 500-employee headquarters staff, or about 25 employees, were being laid off. Alm said Turlinski was not among them.
