TOKYO (Thomson Financial) - Public support for the cabinet of Japanese Prime Minister Yasuo Fukuda slid 2 percentage points from January to 40 percent, falling below the disapproval rating for the third month in a row, a survey conducted by the Nikkei business daily showed on Monday.
The poll was conducted from Friday through Sunday.
The disapproval rating rose 2 percentage points to 48 percent, according to the poll.
The poll showed that some 57 percent of respondents cited a lack of leadership, while a total of 31 percent said they opposed the cabinet because of bad policies and another 25 percent cited instability.
