LONDON Thomson Financial - A small jet aircraft crashed into a house in Farnborough, Kent, in southeastern England, killing all five people aboard, police and fire brigade sources said.
Sky News showed footage of black smoke billowing from a house that was destroyed by the crash, while another house next door was still on fire.
Residents in the most severely damaged house were thought to be on holiday.
The plane crashed into a house in the Broadwater Gardens area of Farnborough, a spokesman for the Metropolitan Police said, adding that ambulance services were also at the scene.
Sky News reported that the plane was a twin-engined Cessna Citation 501 executive jet registered to a local charter company.
Eyewitnesses told the channel that the plane had soared very close to houses in the area and appeared to encounter engine trouble. tf.TFN-Europe_newsdesk@thomson.com jlw/jlw COPYRIGHT Copyright Thomson Financial News Limited 2008.
