The boutique investment bank said Timothy R. Pohl will join its financial advisory business as a managing director in the restructuring group, as of January 7. Pohl, who will be based in Chicago, currently is global co-leader of the corporate restructuring practice of law firm Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP.
CME GROUP INC
The Chicago-based derivatives exchange named Marcus Katz as director, interest rate products. Katz most recently served as managing partner of Winnemac Investments LLC, a fixed income asset management company located in Chicago. He was previously had of risk solutions for Lehman Brothers Inc in New York and global head of corporate derivatives for Bank of America in Chicago.
NASDAQ OMX GROUP INC
The global stock exchange named William H. Morgan as senior vice president of human resources, effective in January. In his new role, Morgan will be responsible for the operation of the human resources department and support to NASDAQ OMX employees worldwide. He will report to Chief Executive Bob Greifeld.
Morgan joined NASDAQ OMX as part of its acquisition of the Philadelphia Stock Exchange in July, supporting the acquisition's integration.
AXA EQUITABLE LIFE INSURANCE CO
The subsidiary of AXA SA's financial division said Kevin R. Byrne was recently elected executive vice president by the company's board of directors.
Byrne is chief investment officer and treasurer of AXA Financial and its subsidiaries, including AXA Equitable Life Insurance Co, and now becomes a member of the executive management committee.
SULLIVAN & CROMWELL LLP
The law firm said Donald L. Korb, chief counsel for the U.S. Internal Revenue Service, will join the firm to lead its tax controversy practice.
Korb will take up his duties on Jan. 1, based in the Washington, D.C. office.
REDWOOD TRUST INC
Redwood Trust said Marty Hughes will succeed Doug Hansen as president upon Hansen's retirement at the end of this year. Hughes and Brett Nicholas will continue to serve as co-chief operating officers of the company.
SECONDMARKET
SecondMarket, which provides a marketplace for illiquid assets, appointed William Seidman as senior adviser. Seidman, chief commentator at CNBC-TV and publisher of Bank Director Magazine also served as chairman of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp from 1985 to 1991.
BLUE WOLF CAPITAL MANAGEMENT LLC
The New York-based private equity firm said Michael Ranson joined the firm as a partner, and Haran Narulla was promoted to vice president.
