SYDNEY, Dec 22 (Reuters) - Australian stocks are set for a
steady start on Monday, with miners set to gain from better base
metals prices, though energy firms may fall after a drop in crude
prices last week and a sluggish end to last week on Wall Street
may keep a lid on the market.
Stock index futures stood 0.3 percent or 11 points higher at 3,610, a 5.7 point discount to the 3,615.7 point close in the underlying S&P/ASX 200 index on Friday.
New Zealand's benchmark NZX 50 index rose 0.5 percent in early trade to 2,667.2.
