Staffing companies fall on Manpower gloom
Shares in European staffing companies fall after global third-ranked jobs company Manpower abandons its fourth-quarter outlook, citing slowing demand in labour markets worldwide and currency fluctuations.
World number one Adecco is down 1.8 percent, second-ranked Randstad is 4.7 percent lower, Dutch USG People 2.5 percent off and British peer Michael Page down 4.9 percent.
'They are all impacted by Manpower,' says Paul Brouwer, a trader at SNS Securities.
Staffing companies since August have all issued gloomy outlooks for the sector as customers cut back on hiring, hurt by slowing economic growth and the credit crisis.
