MOSCOW, Dec 25 (Reuters) - Russian power producer Mosenergo said on Thursday its third quarter net loss narrowed to 1.157 billion roubles ($40.84 million) from 1.670 billion roubles a year ago due to improved operational efficiency.
The loss was the result of a seasonal drop in electricity consumption set against high maintenance costs. The net loss amounted to 393 million roubles in the first nine months of the year against 2.172 billion roubles a year ago.
Mosenergo, which is controlled by gas export monopoly Gazprom, said quarterly revenues rose to 18.014 billion roubles from 12.336 billion roubles a year ago.
Operational expenditure jumped to 19.797 billion roubles from 14.929 billion roubles, the company said in a statement.
