Labor Department releases first-time claims for jobless benefits for the week ended Jan. 24, 8:30 a.m. (1330 GMT). Economists in a Reuters survey forecast a total of 580,000 new filings compared with 589,000 in the prior week.
Commerce Department releases December durable goods orders, 8:30 a.m. (1330 GMT). Economists in a Reuters survey expect a 2.0 percent fall in orders compared with a 1.5 percent decline in November.
Commerce Department releases new home sales for December, 10 a.m. (1500 GMT). Economists in a Reuters survey forecast a total of 400,000 annualized units compared with 407,000 in November.
Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City releases January manufacturing survey, 11 a.m. (1600 GMT). In the prior month, the figure was -21.
Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago releases its Chicago Fed Midwest Manufacturing Index for December, 12 p.m. (1700 GMT). The index read 96.4 in the prior month.
Commerce Department issues Building Permit Revisions for December, no set time. The original December figure was 549,000.
