MELBOURNE, Feb 16 (Reuters) - Australian stocks are set for a
weaker start on Monday, after Wall Street stocks were dragged
lower by the banks on Friday, ahead of a busy week of corporate
earnings.
March share price index (SPI) futures eased 22 points or 0.6 percent to settle at 3,495, a 64.1-point discount to the underlying benchmark S&P/ASX 200 index's close on Friday.
The U.S. market is closed on Monday for a national holiday.
A busy week on the earnings front kicks off with conglomerate Wesfarmers on Monday.
Other companies reporting this week include Fosters Group and OneSteel on Tuesday, CSL Ltd and Woodside Petroleum on Wednesday, and Brambles, Lihir Gold and Santos Ltd on Thursday.

Global miner Rio Tinto Ltd is likely to remain in the spotlight amid media reports of shareholder dissatisfaction with its deal to sell asset stakes and convertible bonds to Chinese aluminium group Chinalco.
New Zealand's benchmark NZX 50 index was flat in early trade at 2,748.85.
