NEW YORK, March 30 (Reuters) - The head of Morgan Stanley's infrastructure investment banking in the Americas and two other senior investment bankers in its financial services practice are leaving.
Robert Collins, the infrastructure investment banker, is joining Greenhill & Co Inc to lead the independent investment bank's advisory effort for the infrastructure sector in the Americas, Greenhill said on Monday.
Collins is the second senior banker to leave Morgan Stanley for Greenhill in the last few days. Last week, Greenhill said it hired Kirk Wilson, a vice chairman in Morgan Stanley's financial institutions group and 26-year veteran at the bank.
The moves come amid two other departures from Morgan Stanley's financial services practice, although a source close to the bank said they were all unrelated. In the closely watched global rankings of mergers advisory firms, Morgan Stanley took the No. 1 spot in the first quarter, up from No. 10 a year earlier, according to preliminary Thomson Reuters data.
Mal Durkee, who advised banks on deals as the co-head of Morgan Stanley's North American depository group, was leaving the company, the source said Monday.
Durkee, who joined Morgan Stanley from Merrill Lynch in 2007, could not be reached immediately for comment. Morgan Stanley declined to comment.
His departure would leave John Esposito as the sole head of the bank's North American depository group.
Separately, UBS AG said it hired Maurice Marchesini who was Morgan Stanley's head of financial services investment banking for the Western U.S. region.
Marchesini and Sean Minnihan, former head of Banc of America Securities financial technology and securities group, will join the Swiss bank's financial institutions group as managing directors, UBS said.
They will report to Gary Howe and Halle Benett, Americas co-heads of the bank's financial institutions group, UBS said.
