AMERICAN INTERNATIONAL UNDERWRITERS
AIU, the property and casualty unit of American International Group being spun off, said Rob Kuchinski has been named president of its global energy property division.
Kuchinski was most recently the profit center manager for the on- and off-shore energy operations in the United Kingdom and Ireland for the company.
ALVAREZ & MARSAL
The professional services firm said Jeff Szafran has joined its dispute analysis and forensic services practice and will be based in the firm's Boston office.
Szafran was a previously managing director with the accounting & financial consulting practice of Huron Consulting Group.
LECG
LECG said former U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission Chief Accountant Lynn Turner has been named senior advisor and managing director in its forensic accounting practice.
CITIGROUP
Citi said Deborah Doyle McWhinney was named the new head of Citi Personal Wealth Management, which includes the existing U.S. network of Citibank branch-based financial advisers and other financial planning and wealth management services. McWhinney retired as president of Charles Schwab Institutional in 2007.
ERNST & YOUNG
The consulting firm's transaction advisory services unit said Richard Jeanneret has been named vice chair for the Americas. Previously, Jeanneret was mid-Atlantic managing partner of the firm's assurance and advisory business services practice.
MERLIN SECURITIES
The prime brokerage services firms said it has launched an institutional sales group that will be built up by Jesse Cole and Bryan Miller. Cole was most recently with Schonfeld IBS as a member of its institutional sales and trading group, while Miller was most recently with the institutional research sales and trading group at Collins Stewart.
BUTTERFIELD FULCRUM
Butterfield Fulcrum, an independent administrator for the alternative investment industry, has appointed Andrew Smith as its global head of business development and marketing.
NIXON PEABODY
The law firm said it has created a government relations and public policy practice, to be led by Richard Goldstein, a Washington, D.C.-based partner. Nixon Peabody also said that retired U.S. Congressman Thomas Reynolds will join the firm as a senior strategic policy adviser.
TRADERISKS
The investment-banking boutique named Phil Jenkins as managing director. Jenkins previously was director at RBC Capital Markets.
CREDIT SUISSE
Credit Suisse appointed 18 senior professionals to its institutional distribution team globally. Richard Johnson was named as a managing director based in New York and will cover institutions in the Eastern and Central areas of the United States. Johnson joins from Graham Capital Management where he was a managing director, principal and global head of strategic business development. Remy Kawkabani was named as a managing director based in London and will be responsible for institutional distribution in Europe, excluding Switzerland.
CONFORTO FINANCIAL
The independent financial management firm named Joanna Goodman as director of client services.
MOELIS & COMPANY
Moelis & Co hired Mark Aedy, formerly a senior banker at Merrill Lynch, as head of its European, Middle Eastern and African investment banking unit, the U.S.-based boutique investment bank said.
TROIKA DIALOG
The company appointed Alexander Nazarov as its managing director of investment banking. Nazarov joins from Credit Suisse where he was director of the investment banking services department.
