Wall St climbs after Fed says economy stabilizing
U.S. stocks pushed higher on Wednesday as the Federal Reserve said it saw signs of a more stable economy.
Stocks had been on track to close at their highest level in 10 months, led by technology and financials, but lost steam in the last half hour of trading.

YRC Worldwide tumbles after Stifel downgrade
Shares of YRC Worldwide dropped on Wednesday, after Stifel Nicolaus downgraded the stock to 'sell' from 'hold,' saying 'we do not believe the recent passage of further Teamster concessions to be a long-term fix for the company's financial, operational and competitive problems.'
The firm added that while it did not think bankruptcy was imminent, 'we do believe it is becoming increasingly likely.'
The stock dropped 7.8 percent to $2.12.

Paper index rallies after Goldman move
The Dow Jones U.S. Paper index rallied on Wednesday, after Goldman Sachs added International Paper to its conviction buy list.
The firm said it had a positive view on containerboard products, and added IP because of it 'provides cyclical exposure to containerboard.'

The index gained 3.7 percent to 70.15 while International Paper added 3.8 percent to $20.09.
Among the other components of the sector, Wausau Paper climbed 4 percent to $9.88 while Domtar added 2.8 percent to $26.19.

Onex sells part of EMS stake
Private-equity firm Onex Corp has sold part of its stake in Emergency Medical Services Corp for about six times what it paid for it four years ago, it said on Wednesday.
Onex said it has sold about 3.5 million shares for net proceeds of about $137 million, including carried interest.

Terex shares up, fraud settlement OKed by SEC
Terex Corp said on Wednesday that U.S. securities regulators had approved its offer to pay an $8 million civil penalty to settle fraud charges.
U.S. regulators alleged that Terex had aided and abetted a fraudulent accounting scheme at United Rentals Inc, an important customer, involving sale-leaseback transactions.

Shares of Terex rose 3.8 percent to $16.05 while United Rentals was up 5.1 percent to $8.39.

Earnings now seen down 28.1 pct vs yr ago
With 90 percent of S&P 500 companies finished reporting, second-quarter earnings are seen declining 28.1 percent from a year ago, according to data from Thomson Reuters.
That's an improvement from a forecast for a decline of 36 percent several weeks ago.
