MADRID, Sept 21 (Reuters) - German power giant E.ON is in advanced talks with potential partners to build new solar power plants in Andalusia, southern Spain, its Chief Executive told Spanish daily Expansion.
'We're very interested and in advanced talks with local partners,' Bernotat told Expansion in an interview published on Monday.
Asked whether leading Spanish renewable energy firm Abengoa was a potential candidate, he said: 'It could be one of the possibilities.'
Abengoa is in the process of building a 300 megawatt complex in Andalusia due to come on line in 2013, which will house three 50 MW concentrated solar power (CSP) plants. No one at the company was immediately available for comment.
Bernotat said E.ON does not have any major acquisitions plans but will maintain its 1.6 billion euro ($2.35 billion) investment drive for recession-hit Spain over 2009-2011, adding: 'E.ON Espana is going to post profits.'
($1=.6802 Euro)
