PARIS, Sept 27 (Reuters) - French power group EDF on Sunday said its supervisory board had decided to propose four people to be appointed and two persons be re-appointed as board members, including Henri Proglio.
The short statement did not say whether Proglio would become the new executive chairman but the current executive chairman, Pierre Gadonneix, was not proposed for re-election.
Sources close to the company said before the meeting Proglio would be appointed chairman and chief executive but the announcement would be made by the French state on Monday.
The state has a stake of some 84 percent.
French television said Proglio was the new EDF head.
The six members are Philippe Crouzet, Mireille Faugere, Lord Michael Jay of Ewelme, Bruno Lafont, Pierre Mariani and Henri Proglio. There are in total 18 members, six appointed by the state and six representatives of staff with six so-called 'qualified' members. Jay is a former diplomat and chairman of the House of Lords Appointments Commission.
Crouzet is with steel tubes group Vallourec, Faugere is with rail group SNCF, Lafont is at cement giant Lafarge and Mariani is with financial group Dexia . Proglio is executive chairman at waste, water and transport group Veolia.
The statement said the board had decided that dividends or interim dividends could be paid in shares, including the interim dividend for 2009.
