PARIS, Oct 7 (Reuters) - French insurer AXA on Wednesday said its supervisory board had decided to propose the creation of a single board structure with a board of directors.
The move will be put to a vote at the April 29, 2010, annual general meeting and would see Henri de Castries becoming chairman and chief executive officer.
Current Chairman Jacques de Chateauvieux will become a member of the board, while Chief Financial Officer Denis Duverne will join the board and become deputy-chief executive and continue to oversee the financial activities.
'While the supervisory board and the management board proved their efficiency through the recent financial turmoil, the new organization proposed by the supervisory board will simplify and unify our governance' Henri de Castries said in a statement.
'We are very ambitious for AXA and I very much look forward to continuing to lead and to serve AXA in the long term,' he added.
