SYDNEY, Oct 26 (Reuters) - Australian shares are seen falling
on Monday after disappointing results from U.S. industrial
companies, with energy firms expected to fall on softer oil
prices.
However, resource companies may offset some of the losses after copper and zinc hit record high prices on upbeat economic data in the United States, China and Europe that raised hopes for strong demand.
December share price index futures settled 28 points lower at 4,824, a 35.4-point discount to the underlying S&P/ASX index's close on Friday.
Producer price indexes for September will be released at 11:30 a.m. (0030 GMT) and chief executive of Wesfarmers' Bunnings unit, John Gillam, is due to talk at a business lunch.
New Zealand financial markets are closed on Monday for a public holiday.
