SYDNEY, Nov 16 (Reuters) - Australian shares are set to start
firmer on Monday, helped by a stronger finish on Wall Street as
retailers advanced and a rise in base metal and gold prices that
should support mining stocks.
Fertiliser maker Incitec Pivot Ltd will be in focus after it reported a full-year net loss, after taking a write down on its Dyno Nobel acquisition, and said business conditions were expected to be soft in the first half of 2010.
Food group Goodman Fielder will also be watched as it prepares to update the market at the annual general meeting later this week on plans to sell its fats and oils business.
Australian share futures rose 28 points to 4,754.0, a 48 point premium to underlying S&P/ASX 200 index's close on Friday.
New Zealand's benchmark NZX 50 index rose 10.7 points or 0.3 percent to 3,168.9 in early trade.
