SYDNEY, Dec 7 (Reuters) - Australian stocks could get a lift
on Monday after good jobs data in the United States raised
optimism over an economic recovery, though lower metals and oil
prices may pressure resources firm, capping overall gains.
Miners BHP Billiton and Rio Tinto could be a focus after they signed a $116 billion iron ore joint venture agreement to combine their Western Australian iron ore operations (see).
Stock index futures stood 23 points higher at 4,728, a 26.8 point premium to the 4,702.2 point close in the S&P/ASX 200 index on Friday.
New Zealand's benchmark NZX 50 index rose 0.3 percent to 3,155.6 in early trade.
