Dec 8 (Reuters) - Canadian broadcast equipment company Evertz Technologies Ltd's quarterly profit halved, hurt by lower sales in North America and higher expenses.
Second-quarter net income was C$17.5 million, or 23 Canadian cents a share, compared with C$34.1 million, or 46 Canadian cents a share, in the prior-year period.
Revenue fell 20 percent to C$73.0 million ($68.80 million).
Analysts on average expected the company to post earnings of 29 Canadian cents a share on revenue of C$77.68 million, according to Thomson Reuters I/B/E/S.
Evertz shares, which have shed more than 8 percent of their value in the past three months, closed down 21 Canadian cents at C$13.99 on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
