WASHINGTON, Dec 16 (Reuters) - The U.S. Senate Armed Services Committee on Wednesday said it was 'deeply concerned' about growing costs and apparent delays on the Lockheed Martin Corp F-35 fighter program.
In a statement issued after a closed-door briefing by top Pentagon officials, the committee's leaders said they were discussing a strategy to keep costs down on the program, and get development of the new radar-evading fighter back on schedule.
They called the Pentagon briefing 'one step' in close oversight by Congress.
