HOUSTON, Dec 23 (Reuters) - California gasoline premiums
strengthened Wednesday as futures soared on the New York
Mercantile Exchange after the government reported U.S.
inventories fell last week.
Los Angeles ethanol-blend CARBOB for January sold as high as 13.5 cents over NYMEX RBOB before settling back to 12.5 cents over.
NYMEX January RBOB climbed 7.78 cents to $1.9666 a gallon while February RBOB added 7.42 cents to $1.9868 and March 7.04 cents to $2.0065.
'A rising Merc lifts all boats,' a trader said, citing the NYMEX surge.
The U.S. Energy Information Administration reported weekly draws of 900,000 barrels in U.S. gasoline inventories and 4.9 million barrels in U.S. crude stocks.
L.A. CARBOB for February saw bids of 14.5 cents over the screen and offers of 16 cents over but no sales.
CARB diesel sold in Los Angeles for 0.75 cents over NYMEX heating oil.
Heating oil in New York gained 6.32 cents to $2.0118 a gallon for January, 6.29 cents to $2.0329 for February and 6.15 cents to $2.0464 for March.
San Francisco diesel saw no action.
For L.A. jet fuel, buyers bid 1 cent under NYMEX heating oil while sellers held out for 1 cent over. There were no deals.
