WELLINGTON, Jan 20 (Reuters) - The fourth-quarter consumers
price index (CPI) was released by Statistics New Zealand on
Wednesday.
Economists polled by Reuters had forecast no change for the quarter and a rise of 2.1 percent from the same quarter a year earlier. The Reserve Bank of New Zealand forecast a fall of 0.2 percent for an annual rate of 2 percent in its Dec. 10 monetary policy statement.
Statistics New Zealand also released the December month food price index, which makes up 17.8 percent of the CPI.
