WASHINGTON, Jan 23 (Reuters) - U.S. President Barack Obama, in the clearest sign yet he is worried about the Senate's confirmation of Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke, called U.S. Senators on Saturday to get an update on the confirmation process.
'(The) president made ... calls to a few senators this afternoon including leadership to make sure everything on track and he has been assured that Bernanke is on track for confirmation,' a senior administration official said.
