WELLINGTON, March 22 (Reuters) - Asian stocks will likely
struggle on Monday, as weaker commodity prices and Greek debt
concerns saw U.S. markets fall, while a holiday in Japan will
likely keep trading subdued.
Wall Street snapped an eight-session winning streak on Friday, as renewed fears about Greece's ability to pay its debts saw riskier investments such as stocks sold off, while the U.S. dollar climbed.
Currency-sensitive sectors such as materials, chip makers and energy were weaker, while healthcare gained ahead of a congressional vote on President Obama's reform package.
The Dow Industrial Average closed down 0.4 percent, while the Standard & Poor's 500 Index lost 0.5 percent and the tech-laden Nasdaq Composite Index fell 0.7 percent.
Asian stocks listed on Wall Street dipped 0.7 percent, while MSCI's measure of Asia Pacific stocks excluding Japan was 0.2 percent higher.
British shares edged to a 21-month closing high, led by financial stocks, but European shares fell on weaker commodity prices.
Japanese markets are closed on Monday for a national holiday, after gaining 0.8 percent on Friday as retailer Aeon issued an upbeat forecast.
Australian shares are seen opening weaker, with share price index futures down 19 points to 4,873, virtually unchanged from the underlying S&P/ASX 200 index close on Friday.
