Lowe's prices $1 bln of debt
Lowe's Companies Inc said on Monday that it will sell $1 billion of debt in two parts and will use slightly more than half of the net proceeds to pay off notes coming due in June.
The sale will include $500 million of notes coming due in 2020 priced to yield 80 basis points over comparable U.S. Treasuries and another $500 million of bonds priced to yield 110 basis points more than U.S. Treasuries and coming due in 2040. The transaction is expected to close on Thursday.

Kratos to buy Gichner Holdings for $133 mln
Kratos Defense and Security Solutions Inc said it agreed to buy Gichner Holdings Inc, a maker of military shelters, for about $133 million, to help it pursue larger contracts and programs.
Kratos said it expects the deal to add to per-share earnings in 2011 as significant transaction and financing related costs will be expensed in 2010.

Alcoa posts Q1 results, revenue rises
Alcoa Inc posted a narrower first-quarter loss on Monday as revenue rose and metal selling prices increased, but it took large charges for closing two smelters and for federal health care reforms.
The net first-quarter loss was $201 million, or 20 cents per share, compared with a loss of $497 million, or 61 cents per share, in the same quarter of 2009, the Pittsburgh-based company said.

Dow closes above 11,000 on earnings optimism
The Dow industrials closed above 11,000 for the first time in almost 19 months on Monday as expectations of solid first-quarter earnings spurred buying in the financial, energy and industrial sectors.
The Dow Jones industrial average added 8.84 points, or 0.08 percent, to 11,006.19, according to the latest available figures. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index gained 2.12 points, or 0.18 percent, to 1,196.49. The Nasdaq Composite Index rose 3.82 points, or 0.16 percent, to 2,457.87.

Markets tick higher on Alcoa, Greece deal
U.S. stocks advanced on Monday after European leaders agreed to an emergency aid plan for Greece and ahead of quarterly results from Alcoa Inc, which marks the unofficial start to earnings season.

The Dow Jones industrial average was up 14.66 points, or 0.13 percent, at 11,012.01. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index was up 3.25 points, or 0.27 percent, at 1,197.62. The Nasdaq Composite Index was up 5.97 points, or 0.24 percent, at 2,460.02.
