NEW YORK, June 27 (Reuters) - Boeing Co workers at a St. Louis plant voted to accept a contract on Sunday, averting a strike, the company said.
Members of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers District 837 voted 1,237 to 838 to accept the contract -- two weeks after they rejected a contract with different health-benefit terms, Boeing said.
A message on the union's website said the contract had been accepted and members were expected to report to their regular shift at Boeing.
The union represents about 2,500 employees in St. Louis, where Boeing works on F/A-18E/F Super Hornets, EA-18G Growlers and F-15 Strike Eagles, as well as components for the C-17 cargo plane.
'We are very pleased that our employees represented by IAM 837 voted today to ratify the contract we have been discussing over the past several weeks,' Boeing said in a statement.
About 1,700 union workers at a Boeing C-17 plant in Long Beach, California, returned to the job earlier this month after a one-month strike.
