Aug 4 (Reuters) - Toymaker RC2 Corp said it acquired privately held JJ Cole Collections to expand its presence into travel and storage products.
The Oak Brook, Illinois-based company said it expects the deal to increase its second half 2010 earnings per share by about 5 cents, excluding the impact of transaction costs.
RC2 expects the deal to add 20 cents to 25 cents a share to its 2011 earnings, depending on the timing of sales realizations and integration synergies.
JJ Cole Collections' senior management will retain about 9 percent of the carry-over ownership, RC2 said in a statement.
RC2 funded the acquisition with about $40 million from its existing cash, the company said.
JJ Cole Collections' premium branded products generated net sales of about $15.5 million in 2009, RC2 said.
Shares of the company closed at $15.99 Wednesday on Nasdaq.
