Italy's biggest bank named Federico Ghizzoni its chief executive as expected on Thursday after central bank pressure for a swift appointment and underscored its commitment to an international role.
The Libyan Central Bank will not raise its stake in the bank, newspapers said citing the governor of the bank.

FIAT
Italy's transport ministry announces September new car registrations at 1600 GMT.
Fiat filed on Thursday for the Milan bourse listing of shares in Fiat Industrial SpA, the truck and heavy machinery unit it plans to demerge at the end of the year, it said in a statement.
Fiat has exercised the option to buy the 5 percent stake of Abu Dhabi fund Mubadala in Ferrari to take its overall stake to 90 percent, Il Sole 24 Ore said, citing management. But the actual transaction has not been carried out yet probably since the form of payment has not been decided, it said.

The U.S. State Department said four international energy companies, including Eni, had agreed to curtail their energy dealings with Iran, thereby escaping further U.S. censure.

French businessman Vincent Bollore will 'soon' increase his stake in the Italian investment bank, he said on Thursday speaking on the sidelines of the Paris auto show.

The group has sold to France Telecom its 70 percent stake in submarine cable and maintenance company Elettra in a deal putting an enterprise value on Elettra of 20 million euros, it said on Thursday. The group will cash in 44.9 million euros, newspapers said.

3,000 megawatts by the end of 2010 due to production incentives, a senior executive at Enel said on Thursday.

Toshiba Corp unit Westinghouse has had contacts with A2A over nuclear power development in Italy, Westinghouse Deputy Chairman Daniel Lipman said in an interview in Il Messaggero. He said other regional utilities such as Acea , Hera and Iren could be interested in nuclear development in Italy, perhaps via a consortium.
UTILITIES
Italy's gas and electricity prices for households and small companies will fall by 0.1 and 0.5 percent, respectively, in the fourth quarter, Italy's energy regulator AEEG said on Thursday in a statement.
