TORONTO, Oct 16 (Reuters) - Bombardier Inc, one of the world's largest civil aircraft makers, outlined details on Saturday of two new jets it will launch to expand its product line of large-cabin business aircraft.
The Montreal-based manufacturer said last month it would make a new large-cabin business jet, building on its existing line that includes the Global 5000 and the Global Express XRS. For details see
The company said on Saturday its new Global 7000 aircraft would feature a four-zone cabin and volume of 2,637 cubic feet (74.67 cubic meters). It will have a range of 7,300 nautical miles (13,520 kilometers), allowing it to fly non-stop from London to Singapore with 10 passengers. Bombardier said it is scheduled to start service in 2016.
The company said the new Global 8000 aircraft will have a smaller cabin but longer range of 7,900 nautical miles (14,631 km). It will be able to fly non-stop from Hong Kong to New York with eight passengers and is expected to enter into service in 2017.
The business jet market is showing signs of stability after one of its toughest years in 2009, but industry experts say a return to annual growth in deliveries is at least a year away.
An industry analyst said last month that Bombardier was widely expected to announce an expansion of its Global line following the launch of the Gulfstream G650 business jet, produced by a unit of General Dynamics.
