Citi China hired Rance Lan, Wendy Wenjun and Hou Yang to its local investor sales team, based in Shanghai. Lan, who was with a European hedge fund, rejoins Citi as vice president of the team. Wenjun, who comes from China International Capital Corp, and Yang, who worked with Bank of Communications, join as assistant vice presidents.
HSBC
The firm's global private banking unit hired Desmond Liu to head the North Asia region, and Nancie Dupier to head private banking for South East Asia. They succeed Monica Wong, who has decided to retire. The firm also appointed Alexandre Zeller to the new role of chief executive for private banking in Europe, Middle East and Africa.

The accounting firm said it has promoted Chris Gagg to director of the financial services group.
SCHRODERS
The firm hired Philippe Lespinard to its fixed income business, as a chief investment officer, effective Nov.1. Lespinard joins from hedge fund firm Brevan Howard.
DAIWA CAPITAL MARKETS
The firm hired Tony Wong as head of fixed income, currencies and commodities sales for Asia excluding Japan. Wong, who will be based in Hong Kong, joins from Commerzbank.
BANK OF AMERICA-MERRILL LYNCH
The brokerage firm appointed Eiichi Katayama to its global research division, as a managing director and lead coverage analyst for Japan consumer electronics. Katayama joins from Nomura Securities.
