WASHINGTON, Dec 7 (Reuters) - A Republican panel has selected Hal Rogers to chair the House of Representatives Appropriations Committee next year and take a lead role in efforts to dramatically slash the federal budget, a source told Reuters on Tuesday.
Rogers beat out Jerry Lewis, the committee's top Republican, with a promise to use his position to push back against environmental regulations and other Obama administration policies.
