SHANGHAI, Dec 17 (Reuters) - The Chinese branch of Hong Kong-based Bank of East Asia plans to issue 2 billion yuan ($300 million) in two-year financial bonds in China, two sources with direct knowledge of the matter said on Friday.
The fixed-rate bonds were expected to be issued early next year.
Bank of East Asia will join a handful of foreign banks to issue bonds denominated in yuan, riding on a trend in which China is expanding the use of the Chinese currency as growth in the world's second-biggest economy powers ahead.
