Redbook releases its Retail Sales Index of department and chain store sales for January versus December, 8:55 a.m. (1355 GMT). In the prior period, sales fell 0.7 percent.
The Institute for Supply Management releases its January manufacturing index, 10 a.m. (1500 GMT). Economists in a Reuters survey expect a reading of 58.0 versus 58.5 in December.
Commerce Department releases December construction spending, 10 a.m. (1500 GMT). Economists in a Reuters survey expect spending to be unchanged compared with a 0.4 percent increase in November.
ABC News releases its consumer comfort index for the week ended Jan. 30 versus the prior week, 5 p.m. (2200 GMT). In the previous week, the index read -44.
U.S. automakers release January auto sales; no set time. Economists in a Reuters survey expect median annualized sales of 4.00 million cars and 5.50 million trucks. In December, the figures were 3.97 million cars and 5.43 million trucks.
