NEW YORK, Feb 2 (Reuters) - NRG Energy Inc's
831-megawatt Unit 1 at the Limestone coal
fired power plant in Texas shut on Wednesday, the company told state regulators in a report.
The unit shut because a phase disconnect malfunctioned, the company said.
ERCOT, which operates the power grid for much of Texas, said more than 50 generating units had shut due to cold weather, forcing the operator to impose rolling blackouts on Wednesday morning.
Earlier, NRG told Reuters its South Texas nuclear power plant had remained on line through the day despite the cold.
