SAO PAULO, March 3 (Reuters) - Brazil's economy grew 0.7 percent in the fourth quarter of last year from the previous quarter, closing out 2010 with an annual growth rate of 7.5 percent, government statistics agency IBGE said on Thursday.
Gross domestic product in Latin America's economy had been expected to expand 0.9 percent on a quarter-on-quarter basis, according to the median forecast of 20 analysts polled by Reuters.
The economy grew 5.0 percent in the fourth quarter when compared to the year-earlier period, IBGE said. That was in line with expectations of growth of 5.05 percent, according to the median forecast of 18 analysts in the poll.
