JERUSALEM (dpa-AFX) - Ampal-American Israel Corp. (AMPL) said Saturday that in the recent violent incidents in Egypt, there was a failed attempt today morning to damage the East Mediterranean Gas Co., in which it has a 12.5 percent stake.
East Mediterranean Gas, located in the city of El-Arish, was made invulnerable as security forces on the site returned fire and repelled the attack. No casualties were reported, the company said.
Ampal-American Israel said the incident will not affect operations at East Mediterranean Gas, once it resumes supply that was disrupted by an explosion at a terminal on July 12, 2011.
Ampal-American Israel Corp. acquires interests in businesses located in the State of Israel or that are Israel-related. It invests in companies in energy, real estate and project development, and leisure.
