WASHINGTON (dpa-AFX) - Parametric Technology Corporation (PMTC) reported fourth-quarter net income of $37.62 million compared to a loss of $13.21 million last year. Profit per share was $0.31 compared to a loss of $0.11 last year.
Non-GAAP net income increased to $56.17 milion or $0.47 per share from $38.17 million or $0.32 per share last year. Analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to report profit of $0.43 per share for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.
Total revenue increased to $339.42 million from $268.07 million last year. Analysts expected revenue of $324.85 million for the quarter.
The company expects first-quarter revenue in the range of $305 million to $320 million, including approximately $20 million in revenue from the MKS and 4CS businesses, including $2 million in non-GAAP revenue. Adjusted earnings per share is expected to be in the range of $0.28 to $0.32.
Parametric Technology expects first-quarter GAAP revenue in the range of $303 million to $318 million and earnings per share in the range of $0.14 to $0.18.
Analysts expect the company to report first-quarter profit per share of $0.31 on revenue of $309.86 million.
For fiscal 2012, Parametric Technology targets Non-GAAP revenue of $1.33 billion to $1.34 billion. The company expects non-GAAP earnings per share in the range of $1.48 to $1.52, and GAAP earnings per share in the range of $0.94 to $0.98.
Analysts expect fiscal 2012 profit per share of $1.47 on revenue of $1.31 billion.
