WASHINGTON (dpa-AFX) - FirstEnergy Corp. (FE) said Saturday that employees, contractors and outside utility crew members are working around-the-clock to restore power to about 45,000 Mon Power customers in West Virginia who remain without power as a result of severe storms that hit the region recently.
The company said much of its work is focused in remote areas with accessibility challenges, which slows the restoration process.
Overall, more than 320,000 customers of FirstEnergy's Mon Power and Potomac Edison utilities in West Virginia lost power following devastating wind and thunderstorms that moved through the area last weekend.
