WASHINGTON (dpa-AFX) - Southwestern Energy Co. (SWN) posted second-quarter net loss of $488.1 million or $1.40 per share, compared to a net income of $167.45 million or $0.48 per share in the previous year quarter.
Excluding items, net income for the quarter was $90.8 million or $0.26 per share, down from $167.5 million or $0.48 per share in the comparable quarter last year. On average, 30 analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to report earnings of $0.26 per share. Analysts' estimates typically excludes special items.
Total revenue for the quarter was $599.73 million, down from $765.17 million in the comparable quarter last year, while eleven Wall Street analysts expected revenues of $633.07 million for the quarter.
