(AWR) reported higher second-quarter net income from continuing operations of $15.1 million, or $0.79 per share, as compared with $12.7 million, or $0.68 per share for the same period in 2011. On average, 6 analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected earnings per share of $0.64 for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude one-time items.
Quarterly net income decreased to $15.08 million from $15.96 million, and total earnings per share slid to $0.79, from $0.85 for the quarter ended June 30, 2011.
Operating revenues totaled $114.31 million, an increase from $109.83 million in the prior-year quarter. Five analysts projected revenue of $110.75 million for the quarter.
