WASHINGTON (dpa-AFX) - Giant Interactive Group Inc. (GA) reported that its third-quarter net income attributable to the Company's shareholders was RMB311.7 million or US$49.6 million, up from RMB361.3 million in the third quarter 2011. Earnings per American Depositary Share or ADS were RMB1.28 or US$0.20, compared to earnings per ADS of RMB1.53 in the year ago quarter.
Non-GAAP earnings per ADS for the quarter were RMB1.41 or US$0.22, compared to earnings per ADS of RMB1.21 for the third quarter 2011.
Net revenue for the third quarter 2012 was RMB543.23 million or US$86.44 million, representing a 18.6% increase from RMB457.89 million in the comparable quarter last year.
On average, analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to report earnings of US$0.18 per share on revenues of US$84.47 million for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.
The company expects sequential growth to be higher in the fourth quarter due to contributions from multiple new games.
