WASHINGTON (dpa-AFX) - Vulcan Materials Co. (VMC), Monday said Thomas Hill will take over as its President and Chief Executive Officer, succeeding Donald James, who will assume the role of Executive Chairman. Hill was Vulcan's Ex-Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer.
In addition, the company said it has promoted John McPherson, previously Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, to the role of Executive Vice President, Chief Financial and Strategy Officer. In his new position, John will retain his current responsibilities, while also assuming the strategy and human resources functions of the company.
Thomas Hill, the new CEO, has been with Vulcan for over 24 years. He was most recently the Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer for the company. Before that, he served as Senior Vice President of Vulcan's South Region. Previously, Hill was the President of Vulcan's former Florida Rock Division and prior to that was President of the group's former Southwest Division. Before rejoining Vulcan as Vice President and General Manager of the company's Southwest Division, he had worked for Redlands Stone Products in sales and operations management.
