WILSONVILLE (dpa-AFX) - FLIR Systems, Inc. (FLIR) Thursday reported second-quarter net earnings of $44.76 million or $0.31 per share, lower than $50.16 million or $0.35 per share in the previous year.
The recent-quarter results were impacted by net after tax restructuring charges of $0.02 per share.
On average, 12 analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to earn $0.33 per share for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.
The manufacturer of thermal imaging, and other sensing products and systems said its quarterly revenues fell 5% to $369.38 million from $389.33 million a year earlier. Analysts estimated revenues of $375.58 million for the quarter.
FLIR's backlog of firm orders for delivery within the next twelve months was about $548 million as of June 30, 2014, an increase of $34 million during the quarter and an increase of 12% since the beginning of 2014.
The firm also reaffirmed its outlook for revenue and earnings per share for the full year 2014. FLIR still expects net earnings, excluding restructuring charges, to be in the range of $1.40 to $1.50 per share.
Revenue for 2014 are anticipated to be between $1.45 billion and $1.55 billion. Analysts are looking for earnings of $1.41 per share, on revenues of $1.52 billion for the year.
The board has also declared a quarterly cash dividend of $0.10 per share, to shareholders of record on August 19, 2014, payable on September 5.
