NEW YORK CITY (dpa-AFX) - Goldman Sachs Group, Inc. (GS) said Thursday that James Schiro, Lead Director and Chair of the Board's Corporate Governance, Nominating and Public Responsibilities Committee, has retired from the company's Board in order to undergo treatment after a diagnosis of multiple myeloma.
Upon James Schiro's retirement, the independent directors of the company's Board of Directors have appointed Adebayo Ogunlesi as Lead Director.
Ogunlesi will serve as Chair of the Board's Corporate Governance, Nominating and Public Responsibilities Committee.
In addition, M. Michele Burns will become Chair of the Risk Committee and Peter Oppenheimer will assume the role of Chair of the Audit Committee, Goldman Sachs said.
Ogunlesi is the Managing Partner and Chairman of private equity firm Global Infrastructure Partners.
