DALLAS (dpa-AFX) - Telecom giant AT&T Inc.'s (T) proposed $48.5 billion takeover of satellite-television provider DirecTV (DTV) has come under the scanner of a group of state attorneys general over concerns of violating antitrust laws, Bloomberg said quoting the Florida Attorney General's Office.
Examination by the states is in addition to reviews by the Justice Department and the Federal Communications Commission.
State attorneys general are already working with the U.S. Justice Department's antitrust division over Comcast Corp.'s (CMCSA) purchase of Time Warner Cable Inc. (TWC). Those states include Florida, Connecticut, Maryland and Ohio.
T gained 0.4 percent on Thursday to close at $34.85, while DTV also rose 0.4 percent to settle at $87.00.
