DALLAS (dpa-AFX) - Telecom giant AT&T (T) Wednesday said it hired more than 1,300 new jobs - and filled a total of over 1,900 jobs in Georgia in 2014.
Apart from those jobs already filled in Georgia this year, AT&T currently has over 300 openings available across the state. More than 280 of those openings are newly-created jobs in areas including call centers, retail support, technicians and corporate support.
The company said separately that it hired people for more than 275 newly created jobs - and filled a total of more than 445 jobs in Alabama in 2014. Additionally, AT&T currently has more than 70 openings available across the state.
Much of the hiring has been spurred by AT&T's Project Velocity IP or VIP, which is an investment plan to expand and enhance IP broadband networks.
