BURBANK (dpa-AFX) - Disney's popular Dream cruise ship is getting a makeover that includes a Star Wars play area, as the company kicks off a cross-marketing blitz in promotion the upcoming trilogy of films.
After a nearly 3-week drydock this fall, kids 3 to 12 will be treated to the interactive Star Wars: Millennium Falcon project, inspired by Han Solo's spacecraft from the first three Star Wars films.
Upon entering the cockpit, kids can 'pilot the spaceship through hyperspace and trigger light-speed jumps to different locations around the galaxy,' Disney said.
The ship will also have a version of the Jedi Training Academy, a popular show at Disney Hollywood Studios theme park.
Another upgrade to the ship comes in the form of Vanellope's Sweets & Treats, based on the candy land of the Sugar Rush race car game in the film 'Wreck-It Ralph.'
The store will serve gelato and novelty sweets.
The young ones will also enjoy a Bibbiddi Bobbity Boutique, a salon for ages 3 to 12 which will offer kids the chance to transform into royalty,' or on certain nights, a pirate.
For adults, the big upgrade is a splash pool on the Dream called Satellite Falls.
The Dream currently sails on 3 or 4-night cruises from Port Canaveral to the Bahamas.
