FALLS CHURCH (dpa-AFX) - General Dynamics Corp. (GD) reported earnings for its first quarter that advanced compared to the same period last year.
The company said its bottom line advanced to $730 million, or $2.34 per share. This was higher than $716 million, or $2.14 per share, in last year's first quarter.
Analysts had expected the company to earn $2.16 per share, according figures compiled by Thomson Reuters. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.
The company said revenue for the quarter fell 0.8% to $7.72 billion. This was down from $7.78 billion last year.
