WASHINGTON (dpa-AFX) - Ecolab Inc. (ECL) said that it expects third quarter 2016 adjusted earnings per share to be in the range of $1.24 to $1.32, compared with adjusted earnings per share of $1.28 a year ago. Analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expect the company to report earnings of $1.29 per share for the third-quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.
At current rates of exchange, the company expects foreign currency and the impact of the Venezuelan devaluation and deconsolidation to have an unfavorable impact of approximately 3 percentage points on third quarter sales and a 6% ($0.08) unfavorable impact on diluted earnings per share.
Ecolab expects full year 2016 adjusted earnings per share growth in the $4.35 to $4.50 range, compared with full year 2015 adjusted earnings per share of $4.37. Analysts expect annual earnings of $4.44 per share. Ecolab previously forecasted adjusted earnings per share in the $4.35 to $4.55 range.
At current rates of exchange, the company expects foreign currency and the impact of the Venezuelan devaluation and deconsolidation to have an unfavorable impact of approximately 4 percentage points on full year sales and a 6% to 7% (approximately $0.27 to $0.32 per share) unfavorable impact on diluted earnings per share.
